928 compassionate appointment cases gathering dust in J&K: Waheed Para

Srinagar: Aug 13 (UNI) PDP leader Waheed Para today questioned the delay in clearing 928 compassionate appointment cases and 1,279 Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) cases for appointments in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing the administration of prolonging the suffering of bereaved families.
Quoting official figures from an un-starred Assembly question, Para said these cases — involving families who lost their sole breadwinner — remain pending in the General Administration Department despite the Chief Minister’s authority to relax rules for their clearance.
“These are not just files—they are the stories of families who face an uncertain, desperate future,” Para posted on X, tagging Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Office of LG J&K, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and the GAD.
