93 Mumbai blasts convict Abu Salem may abscond If granted parole: Maha Govt

Mumbai, Jan 20 (UNI) The Maharashtra government on Tuesday strongly opposed 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Abu Salem's plea seeking 14 days' parole while citing that the petitioner may abscond if his request was granted.
The state government counsel said that if the petitioner absconded, it would cause serious issues between the governments of India and Portugal, from where he was extradited.
An affidavit was filed by the government opposing Salem’s petition seeking 14 days’ parole, citing his elder brother’s death and to attend subsequent rituals.
