Aasu calls for protest programme against govt move to selectively protect illegal immigrants in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 7 (UNI) The All Assam Students Union (Aasu) has announced a statewide protest from August 8 against the state government's recent move to withdraw the pending cases in Foreigners' Tribunal against the Hindu Bengali immigrants from Bangladesh.
The powerful students organization, who had led the six year long anti-foreigners movement in Assam between 1979 to 1985, termed the move as a blatant violation of Assam Accord and said
that the move will legitimize all illegal immigrants.

Police crack down on Ganja trafficking in Gumla, four arrested with 132 Kg seizure

Gumla, Jan 18 (UNI): The Gumla Police have busted a ganja smuggling racket in Gumla district and seized 132.10 kilograms of ganja. The contraband was being transported in two vehicles, including a black Hyundai car and a white Scorpio-II. Four smugglers have been arrested in connection with the case.
