Abrar, Beg star in Bangladesh victory over Afghanistan

Dubai, Dec 13 (UNI) Bangladesh U19’s explosive duo Zawad Abrar and MD Rifat Beg produced a spectacular batting display to guide their team to a thrilling three-wicket victory over Afghanistan U19 in Group B of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy Ground here on Saturday.
Chasing Afghanistan’s challenging target of 284, Bangladesh faced an early scare but the young stars turned the tide with a series of breathtaking shots. Abrar’s innings of 96 off 112 balls was studded with nine boundaries and six towering sixes, including a crucial 6 over midwicket off Roohullah Arab and a late six off Salam Khan Ahmadzai, which kept the required run rate under control.
His calm yet attacking approach was complemented by Beg’s calculated 62 off 68 balls, highlighted by a mix of five boundaries and two sixes, which helped anchor the innings amid pressure.
