AFMC Pune hosts 22nd annual conference on Geriatrics

Pune, Nov 16 (UNI) The Department of Geriatric Medicine, AFMC Pune has successfully hosted GERICON 2025, the 22nd annual conference of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics, at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), here from November 13-15.
The three-day national conference brought together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and allied health professionals from across India and abroad to advance the cause of age-friendly healthcare in the country, said a Defence release today.
The theme for the year — “Collaborative Care in Geriatrics: Advancing Towards an Age-Friendly Healthcare System” — underscored the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork to enhance health outcomes, functional independence, and quality of life for older adults.

Maharashtra Legislative Council polls for 16 seats scheduled on June 18, Nagpur to witness by-election

Mumbai, May 18 (UNI) The Election Commission has announced the schedule for elections to 17 Local Authorities’ constituencies of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, ending a prolonged delay of nearly two-and-a-half years caused by pending local body elections in the state. The polls, which are expected to boost the effective strength of the Upper House ahead of the Monsoon Session, will be held on June 18, while the counting of votes is scheduled for June 22.
