AI must serve humanity, not control it: Om Birla

New Delhi/Haridwar, Sept 16 (UNI) Calling for responsible technological advancement, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) must always serve humanity and should not be allowed to become a tool for controlling human beings.
He stressed the need for AI to be rooted in spiritual wisdom and ethical responsibility, asserting that only then can it become a force for societal good, an official statement said.
Birla made these remarks while delivering the inaugural address at an international conference "Faith and Future: Integrating AI with Spirituality" at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar. The conference is being organised in collaboration with the Future of Life Institute (USA).

New Delhi, Jun 15 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice on the Central government’s plea seeking transfer and consolidation of all pending challenges to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, from various High Courts to the Delhi High Court for adjudication, while indicating that it may itself examine the constitutional validity of the law in order to avoid “scattered opinions” emerging from different High Courts.
