AIADMK's Assembly bypoll win will reflect in LS polls : Sengottaiyan

AIADMK's Assembly bypoll win will reflect in LS polls : Sengottaiyan

Chennai, Jan 29 (UNI) As the filing of nominations for the Februry 27
bypoll to Erode East Assembly seat all set to commence on January 31,
senior AIADMK leader and former Minister KA Sengottaiyan on Sunday
exuded confidence of the party's victory in it and said it would reflect
in next year's Lok Sabha polls.
Talking to reporters in Erode, he said "We are positive and confident of
winning the polls".
“We are working tirelessly to ensure the party's victory in the bypoll. We
believe we could easily achieve victory, which will reflect in the Delhi Red
Fort in the future. After this election, Lok Sabha elections will come and
the AIADMK's victory in this bypoll will reflect in the LS polls. We are
working with the people, and victory is our prime target”, he added.
He said AIADMK Interim General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami
will announce the stand of the allies and the Party's candidate in the
next 2-3 days.
Th bypoll was necessitated following the death of Congress member
Thirumahan Everaa, who is the great grandson of Social Reformer
Periyar and the son of senior Congress leader and Union Minister
EVKS Elangovan.
The bypoll is all set to witness a multi-cornered contest though it is
expected to be a straight fight between the Congress and the main
opposition AIADMK.
The ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance has allotted the seat
to Congress as it was held by it. The Congress has fielded Elangovan
as the candidate.
Both the factions of the AIADMK led by Palaniswami and O.Panneerselvam
respectively have decided to contest the polls and were yet to announce their
candidates and were perhaps waiting for the outcome of the Supreme Court
order on the leadership tussle in the party.
On behalf of the AIADMK Front, Tamil Maanila Congress' candidate
had unsucessfully contested against the Congress nominee in the
2021 Assembly polls. However, since the AIADMK wanted to contest
the seat this time, the TMC conceded it to the alliance leader on the
ground that victory of the Front was paramount.
Apart from the AMMK, the DMDK led by actor-politician Vijayakanth
and Naam Tamizhar Katchi (NTK) of another actor-director-politician
Seeman have also decided to enter the fray.
Wbile, the TTV Dinakaran's AMMK named its Erode East district secretary
Siva Prashanth as its candidate, the DMDK has nominated its Erode urban
district secretary Anand as its candidate and NTK is yet to announce its
candidate, through reports suggest that it could be a woman.
While the BJP, an ally of the AIADMK, was yet to finalise its stand on
whether to enter the fray or support a strong common candidate fielded
by the Opposition.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam of actor-politician Kamal Haasan has decided
to unconditionally support the Congress in the bypoll, while the PMK said
it would neither contest nor support any party.
