Andaman gearing up for Panchayat, ZP and Municipal Election, Draw of lots from tomorrow

Port Blair, Mar 03 (UNI) The duration of Gram Panchayats, Zilla Parishad and Port Blair Municipal Council in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has already expired during last year but due to spread of pandemic of COVID-19 general elections to these PRI Institutions and Urban Local Body could not be held on time.
Now, as the situation of COVID19 has substantially improved in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Election Commission for the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands intended to conduct general elections to Gram Panchayats, Zilla Parishad and Port Blair Municipal Council at an early date.
In this regard the Election Commission shall be holding a public draw of lots on 04 March 2021 at 10 am in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Port Blair, to allocate the seats reserved for women in Gram Panchayats in South Andaman District (including Campbell Bay), Zilla Parishad, South Andaman and PBMC for the forthcoming General Elections to these local bodies.
