AP: Anganwadi workers stage dharna for higher wages

Kakinada, Dec12 (UNI) Anganwadi workers owing allegiance to the AP Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, an affiliate of CITU, staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Friday in support of their demands, mainly increase of wages and reduction of Apps workload.
CITU district president Duvva Seshu Babji and union district president Dadala Padma and secretary Yerubandi Chandravathi, while addressing the protesters, said that the wages of Anganwadi workers were not increased for the last six years. As such they should be paid minimum wage of Rs.26,000 commensurate with the rising prices. They also demanded the Anganwadi workers working in mini Anganwadi centers also should be paid main center wages and all Apps should be clubbed to reduce the workload of Anganwadi workers.
They demanded immediate stoppage of merger of Anganwadi centers into schools.
