AP: CM's wife Bhuvaneswari donates Rs 1 Cr for Anna canteens

Vijayawada, Aug 14 (UNI) Extending Rs 1 crore donation from the NTR Trust for the maintenance of Anna Canteens that are being relaunched on Thursday on the occasion of Independence Day, Nara Bhuvaneswari, the wife of the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday termed the project an august one since it fills the stomachs of the hungry at a mere Rs 5 per meal.
Bhuvaneswari handed over the Rs 1 crore cheque to the Minister for Municipal Administration, P Narayana, at her residence in Undavalli. Fondly recalling that the TDP founder, the Late NT Rama Rao's slogan was providing food, clothing, and shelter to the poor, Bhuvaneswari said she is extending her support to this program, which was launched with the inspiration of the Late NTR, to satisfy the hunger of the poor.
Providing food for the poor, daily-wage earners, and laborers at Rs 5 through Anna Canteens is certainly a great initiative, she said, and she expressed the hope that the canteens will always help them. Bhuvaneswari profusely thanked the state government, which is implementing welfare programs to improve the living standards of the poor, and wished that more such programs should be taken up by the ruling dispensation.
