AP: CPI General Secretary D Raja emphasizes need of election reforms

Vijayawada, Nov 16 (UNI) CPI General Secretary D Raja emphasized the need of election reforms in India and called upon "democratic and secular forces" to be united to defeat the BJP. Raja found fault with the Election Commission of India(ECI) for the Special Intensive Revision(SIR) of electoral rolls conducted in Bihar before elections in an improper way.
Addressing the meet the press programme, organized by theAPUWJ in the press club here on Sunday, D Raja alleged that the ECI created many hurdles in Bihar in the form of SIR of electoral rolls. He criticized that the ECI insisted voters to produce their date of birth certificates. Some elderly people were unable to produce their original date of birth certificate. The ECI’s SIR deprived many voters their voting right, he regretted.
“The credibilityof ECI has become a question mark,” he observed. D Raja stressed the need of INDIA alliance to retrospect the Bihar election results. “The Indian democracy and constitution are in jeopardy. The relations between the communal forces and the corporate forces are getting bolstered. The public sector companies are being handed over to the corporate forces,” he slammed.
