AP reports 8,987 new cases of Covid-19, 35 more die

Vijayawada, Apr 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh recorded a steep spike in the new cases of Coronavirus as a whopping 8,987 fresh cases were reported in a period of 24 hours while 35 more patients died.
A health bulletin here on Tuesday said that 37,922 swab samples were tested in a period of 24 hours ending at 10 am today of which 8,987 were tested positive for Coronavirus while 35 more patients died. The pandemic has claimed 7,472 lives so far. Highest number of fresh cases 1347 reported in Nellore district, 1344 in Srikakulam district, 1,202 in Guntur district and 1063 in Chittoor district. There are 53,889 active cases in the state now.
The total number of positive cases has gone up to 9,76,987 while 9,15,627 have been discharged from various hospitals as they recovered. So far 1,57,53,679 swab samples have been tested in AP.
