Nobody has right to check papers of migrant workers, asserts Meghalaya CM

Shillong, July 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma reiterated on Friday that “nobody has the right to check” the papers of migrant workers in the state, except law-enforcing agencies, even as the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) maintained that it would continue to check the documents of workers who have come from outside the state.

405 students from India, Nepal, and Bhutan safely evacuated from Bangladesh

Shillong, July 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said around 405 students from India, besides a few students from Nepal and Bhutan and also some stranded tourists have been evacuated so far from trouble-torn Bangladesh into India through the Dawki Land Port on the India- Bangladesh border in Meghalaya.
