Azamgarh (UP), June 3 (UNI) Around 30 passengers were injured when two buses collided head on in Jiyanpur area of Azamgarh district here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, a senior administration officer said here.
District Magistrate Vishal Bharadwaj said that the incident took place around 10 am when two buses collided head on on Baghidand bridge. "Both the buses were jam packed at the time of the incident and around 30 passengers were injured in the accident," he said.
Inspector General of Police (IG) Akhilesh Kumar, DM Bharadwaj, Superintendent of Police (SP) Anurag Arya rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation. "Ambulances were called on the spot and the injured were taken to the district hospital. Three passengers, who sustained serious injuries have been referred to a higher center," sources said.
