Ashoka pins RCB stampede on Siddaramaiah govt

Bengaluru, Aug 12 (UNI) Leader of Opposition R Ashoka today delivered a damning indictment of the Siddaramaiah government in the Karnataka Assembly, holding it directly responsible for the tragic stampede during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) IPL victory felicitation that claimed 11 precious lives.
Describing the tragedy as a preventable disaster caused by clear negligence and absence of leadership, Ashoka asserted that senior officials, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister, failed to act on multiple warnings and implement adequate crowd control and safety protocols.
Ashoka detailed how the felicitation event, planned on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha, was marred from the start by poor planning and mismanagement. Although the Home Minister had approved a plan that involved the RCB team arriving by bus, being honoured, and returning without any procession, contradictory signals emerged — the Chief Minister invited the public to attend, while DPR Secretary simultaneously advised people not to come, creating confusion that contributed to the chaotic gathering.
