Asian Kabaddi League launches first-ever Women’s Kabaddi League

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) The Asian Kabaddi League (AKL) has officially launched as the world’s first fully structured, commercially funded, and broadcast-backed professional women’s kabaddi league, marking a major milestone for Indian and Asian sport.
The league unveiled its vision of transforming women’s kabaddi into a fully professional, franchise-based competition with long-term career pathways for athletes.
Season 1 of the league is scheduled to begin in August 2026 and will feature eight city-based franchises along with approximately 120 contracted professional women athletes.
