Awais debut ton Miraz five-fer make Dhaka Test intriguing

Dhaka, May 10 (UNI) A gripping battle between Pakistan debutant Azan Awais and Bangladesh spin spearhead Mehidy Hasan Miraz defined a fascinating Day Three of the opening Test, with the young batsman's maiden century and the all-rounder's five-wicket haul keeping the contest finely poised at the Shere Bangla National Stadium here.
While Awais announced himself on the international stage with a composed 103 on Test debut, Miraz responded with a brilliant spell of off-spin to halt Pakistan's charge and drag Bangladesh back into the game with figures of 5 for 102.
The day began with Pakistan looking to build on a solid platform, and Awais ensured they did exactly that. Displaying maturity far beyond his 21 years, the opener batted with patience, authority and fearless strokeplay against both pace and spin.
