B'desh: Police chief vows to address human rights violations amid unrest

Dhaka, Aug 7 (UNI) Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam has pledged to address human rights violations within the force and restore discipline in his first briefing at the Police Headquarters here on Wednesday.
According to Daily Star News, Mainul Islam criticised some police officials for their "unprofessional and overly ambitious" conduct, which he said has contributed to ongoing violence and casualties. He stated, "It is because of them that this ongoing violence and casualties have occurred."
The IGP assured that all murders will be thoroughly investigated and confirmed that actions will be taken against those who have violated human rights. "Action will be taken against those involved as per police regulations," he said.
