Bairabi-Sairang railway makes headway

Aizawl, July 22 (UNI) The Bairabi-Sairang new line railway project, designed to connect Mizoram's capital to the rest of India, is in the advanced stages of completion, according to a press statement issued by NF Railway on Monday.
The 51.38 km new line between Bairabi and Sairang is divided into four sections: Bairabi-Hortoki, Hortoki-Kawnpui, Kawnpui-Mualkhang, and Mualkhang-Sairang. The project has achieved 93% physical progress, stated Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer of NF Railway. He added that the economical and environmentally friendly railway services will positively impact nearly all developmental projects in the state.
The construction of the Bairabi-Sairang railway project involves multiple tunnels and bridges in challenging terrain. The total length of the tunnels is 12,853 metres, with 12,807 metres of tunnelling work already completed, according to the statement.
