Banerjee rides pillion on motorcycle

Kolkata, June 2 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rode pillion on a motorcycle during a candlelight vigil at the base of the Gostha Pal statue in Maidan on Thursday to stand in solidarity with the protesting wrestlers.
She said, " My heart goes out to the protesting wrestling, who are repeatedly being harassed and mistreated while they continue their fight for justice. "
Reiterating that she stands with wrestlers in their fight for justice, Banerjee, who attended a candlelight vigil in solidarity with the protesting wrestlers at the base of the Gostha Pal statue, said, " My heart goes out to the wrestling protestors, who are repeatedly being harassed and mistreated while they continue their fight for justice. "
" Today, I participated in a candlelight vigil at the base of the Gostha Pal statue in Maidan to stand in solidarity with them, " she added.
Slamming the BJP, the Chief Minister iterated that the
BJP Government's ignorance towards their plight is unacceptable.
" We condemn such injustice meted out to our wrestlers, and we shall continue to fight for their rights, " Banerjee averred.
" United World Wrestling strongly condemns detention of Olympic Medalists & threatens @wfi_wrestling with suspension. "
" @BJP4India exploits athletes' names for gain, only to abandon them now, " she said.
On Wednesday too Banerjee joined a rally in protest against the alleged manhandling of wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Carrying a placard with the message, "We Want Justice", Banerjee took part in the rally, which started from Hazra Road and culminated at Rabindra Sadan.
State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Aroop Biswas and several sportspersons also joined the rally.
Banerjee said, " Medal-winning wrestlers dishonoured by @BJP4India's antics. "
Banerjee stated that she stood in solidarity with the protesting wrestlers who have been "wronged".
" I had talk with them and have expressed my solidarity. They are the pride of the Nation, " she added.
