BJP alleges 100 bogus votes in Vanchiyoor; tensions flare with CPM

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 9 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) of casting “around 100 bogus votes” at a polling booth in Vanchiyoor during the ongoing local-body elections today, triggering a tense confrontation between party workers at the site.
BJP City District President K. Jayan said the party has lodged complaints with both the Election Commission of Kerala and local police. According to the BJP, some voters—including a transgender individual—had allegedly already cast their votes in a different constituency, raising concerns over duplicate voting.
The party also alleged that election officials hindered video recording at the booth, despite rules allowing mobile phone filming. Officials reportedly stated that the phone battery died after two hours, preventing further recording.
