BJP slams Kharge, lauds RSS for opposing Emergency

Bengaluru, Oct 17 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwathnarayan today defended the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and criticised Congress leader Priyank Kharge, following the latter’s remarks suggesting that the RSS mindset was responsible for Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and threatened Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Ashwathnarayan said the RSS has consistently defended the nation, opposed the Emergency, and promoted the values of unity, freedom, and constitutional principles. "The RSS stands for the country’s sovereignty, the Constitution, and the principles of equality, fraternity, and humanity.
During the Emergency, when the Congress government under Indira Gandhi curtailed citizens’ rights, RSS members went to jail and faced harsh treatment while defending democratic freedoms," he told reporters.
