BMC introduces backup display units for vote counting , AAP questions legality of PADU deployment

Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) Mumbai is set to introduce Printing Auxiliary Display Units for the first time during the upcoming elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, with the civic administration describing the move as a technical safeguard during the vote-counting process.
The BMC has received 140 PADU machines developed by Bharat Electronics Limited at its Bengaluru facility. According to the civic administration, the units are intended to function as a backup mechanism in the event of technical issues while connecting voting units with the control unit during counting.
BMC Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani said the PADU machines would be used only in emergency situations or in case of technical errors involving the display unit, and would act purely as a support system during the counting process.
