Cabinet approves India’s first semi high-speed rail corridor between Ahmedabad and Dholera

‎ New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) ‎The union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej)-Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line railway project in Gujarat at an estimated cost of around Rs 20,667 crore, marking a major milestone in India’s railway modernisation push and the country’s first semi high-speed rail corridor built with indigenously developed technology.
‎Announcing the decision after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting, union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project would be completed by 2030-31 and would significantly improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and key upcoming economic and infrastructure hubs in Gujarat.
‎Vaishnaw said the corridor would provide faster connectivity between Ahmedabad, the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), the upcoming Dholera International Airport and the Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex.
