Cabinet nod to doubling of single Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat railway line

New Delhi, Sept 10 (UNI) To strengthen rail infrastructure in eastern India, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today approved the doubling of the single railway line section between Bhagalpur, Dumka, and Rampurhat, spanning 177 km across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
The project will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3,169 crore.
The railway line traverses five districts across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, including the 'Aspirational Districts' of Banka, Godda, and Dumka. It provides vital rail connectivity to prominent pilgrimage and tourist destinations such as Deoghar, home to Baba Baidyanath Dham, and Tarapith, renowned as a Shakti Peeth, drawing devotees and visitors nationwide.
