Calcutta HC asks CBI to probe rape and murder of a female medic in Govt hospital
Kolkata, Aug 13 (UNI) Calcutta High Court on Tuesday asked the CBI to probe the rape and murder of a 2nd year PG medical student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital premises.
The High Court transferred the investigation of the case from the SIT to the central investigation agency with immediate effect.
A division bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya gave the direction while hearing multiple pleas, including the one by the parents
of the victim seeking transfer of investigation to an independent agency.
The court expressed concerns over the progress of the investigation under the state police, the bench observed.
