Calcutta HC restrains police from taking coercive action against Aroop Biswas till August 17

Kolkata, June 10 (UNI) Calcutta High Court on Wednesday restrained the police from taking any coercive action against former West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas till August 17 related to the probe into the chaos that marred Argentine soccer icon Lionel Messi’s visit to the Salt Lake stadium last December.
However, while giving the interim relief to the Trinamool Congress leader, the court also asked him to appear before the cops on the specific day mentioned in the summons
The court also asked the Commissioner of Police, Bidhananagar Commissionerate, to investigate the alleged irregularities that led to the mess on December 13 last year. The court sought a report in four weeks.
