CBI summons actor-politician Vijay for second round of questioning in Karur stampede case

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Actor and politician Vijay has been summoned again by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, officials confirmed on Tuesday. This will be his second round of interrogation, scheduled for January 19.
Vijay was previously questioned for approximately seven hours on January 12 at the CBI headquarters in Delhi. The probe focuses on the September 27, 2025, fatal stampede at a public rally in Karur, in which 41 people were killed and 100 injured, with investigators examining delays and alleged lapses in crowd management.
A key line of inquiry has been the reported seven-hour gap between the event's scheduled start and Vijay's arrival, and whether this delay contributed to the overcrowding and subsequent chaos. During the first session, the agency questioned him on a range of issues, including his role in planning the rally, his awareness of the expected crowd size and safety conditions, and the reasons for his delayed arrival.
