Centre launches nationwide awareness drive to mark 10 years of maternal health scheme

New Delhi, Jun 8(UNI) The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will launch a nationwide awareness and outreach campaign from Tuesday to mark the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), a maternal healthcare initiative aimed at ensuring safe pregnancy and healthy motherhood.
The celebrations, themed “10 Years of PMSMA – A Decade of Care”, will begin on June 9, marking a decade since the scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016. Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
As part of the outreach programme, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers will conduct awareness activities in urban and rural areas across states and union Territories. The campaign aims to educate pregnant women and their families about the benefits available under PMSMA and encourage them to access the scheme’s nine assured free services.
