New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) Amid the rising demand of replacing Nagaland Governor RN Ravi as the Centre’s interlocutor for Naga peace talks by many Naga factions, including National Socialist Council of Nagaland or NSCN (IM), a 14 Apex Naga Tribal Hohos of Nagaland (14 ANTHN) has issued a statement asking him to continue as the Centre’s representative for peace talk.
A statement issued by the 14 ANTHN said that since the negotiations have progressed to the final stage for an inclusive agreement stage and at this time if the interlocutor is changed, this will hamper the progress of the talk and` the ‘peace agreement’ will be further delayed.
This group, rejecting the demand to replace Mr RN Ravi, said that the time is not for negative campaign as it could only delay the process and lead to another endless negotiations while remaining in one’s comfort zone “at the cost of peace and tranquility”. It also said that the parties in the negotiations should “avoid double standard” and show “commitment for solution”.
The ANTHN group also reminded those who are demanding for the replacement of the Centre envoy to note that the “voice and aspirations of the Nagas have grown louder each day” for a peaceful solution to the protracted Naga political issue now than ever before, despite our diversity in multiple issues.
“ Nagas have been reeling under a situation of uncertainties in absence of real peace for decades together. Therefore, people are desperate to have peace in our land and also with all neighbouring ethnic groups, for all times to come,” the 14 ANTHN statement reads further.
“The 14 Apex Tribal Hohos of Nagaland record our sincere appreciation to the lnterlocutor of the Government of India Mr. R.N. Ravi and the Naga negotiators for their magnanimity and dedicated engagement towards bringing lasting peace through an inclusive solution”, the statement added.
In reiteration of our cherished campaign for early solution, we further appeal to the benevolent Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demonstrate his magnanimity and generously address one of the oldest political conflicts with resounding effects in the political history of magnificent India with no intention of change in the interlocutor, the ANTHN body said.
