CM Siddaramaiah hints at lifting cow slaughter ban

Bengaluru, June 5 (UNI) Defending his cabinet colleague K Venkatesh's comments, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday hinted at revoking anti-cow slaughter law brought in by the previous BJP government.
Siddaramaiah said there is a provision under the 1964 Act to slaughter cows aged above 12 years.
"We will discuss this (cow slaughter issue) in cabinet. What has been stated in the 1964 Act is that (there is a provision to slaughter) cows aged above 12 years, barren cows and useless for farming," he told reporters.
