Conditions favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon

Pune, June 9 (UNI) Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of the central Arabian Sea remaining parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and southwest, Central and northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states during the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
Conditions are also becoming favourable for the advance of Southwest Monsoon over the remaining parts of northeastern states and some parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the subsequent 48 hours.
As per the IMD, Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Bihar; Heat Wave conditions in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and isolated pockets over Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh; at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.1°C ) at many places over Jharkhand, Odisha and Madhya Maharashtra; at a few places over Marathwada, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at isolated places over Konkan and Goa; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh; at a few places over east Madhya Pradesh and Rayalaseema; at isolated places over Saurashtra and Kutch.
They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 45.1°C was reported at Jhansi (west Uttar Pradesh).
Thunderstorms were observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, west Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Hailstorms were observed at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and west Madhya Pradesh.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala Lakshadweep and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and isolated places in Odisha, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and interior Karnataka.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat State.
