Congress Condemns Ink Attack on NCP Spokesperson Vikas Lavande

Mumbai, May 10 (UNI) Maharashtra Congress has strongly condemned Saturday's ink attack on Nationalist Congress Party spokesperson and ideologue Vikas Lavande, calling it an assault not only on an individual but also on Maharashtra’s legacy of tolerance and saintly traditions.
In a press statement on Sunday, senior Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Gopaldada Tiwari alleged that the attack carried out by self-proclaimed Warkari activist Sangram Bhandare was an assault on the values of harmony and equality taught by saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram.
Tiwari claimed that Bhandare had earlier also threatened senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat which had sparked public protests at the time. He further alleged that extremist tendencies were being encouraged under political patronage, leading to repeated attempts to damage Maharashtra’s image as a progressive and culturally tolerant state.
