Congress welcomes Punjab municipal poll announcement, urges free and fair elections

Chandigarh, May 11 (UNI) The Punjab unit of the Congress party has welcomed the recent announcement by the State Election Commission regarding the upcoming municipal elections, which are scheduled to be held on May 26.
In a statement issued on Monday, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring expressed strong confidence in the party's performance and anticipated significant success across the state.
Welcoming the local bodies' polls, Warring specifically called upon the State Election Commission to ensure a free and fair electoral process. He alleged that past municipal elections have seen instances where the local administration and police became tools in the hands of the ruling party.
