Court shootout accused to be taken on police remand

Lucknow, June 9 (UNI) The Lucknow police will apply for police remand of the youth accused of shootout inside the district court in which dreaded criminal Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva was killed and five others, including three cops and a girl, were injured in Uttar Pradesh, a senior officer said here on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Upendra Kumar Agarwal said, "Accused Anand Yadav alias Vijay Yadav, a resident of Sultanpur under Kerakat police station in Jaunpur district, was nabbed on the spot. As he was undergoing treatment his formal arrest was shown on Thursday after the doctors cleared that he was ready for questioning," he said.
He said the accused was remanded to 14 days judicial custody from the hospital on Thursday itself. "We will apply for his police remand accused possibly on Saturday or in the next couple of days," he said.
