New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) With the world reeling under Corona impact, India could see a ray of hope with it recording the highest ever single day recoveries in the past 24 hours with 51,706 Covid-19 patients being discharged, according to Union Health ministry sources.
But the gloomy side was the total number of infections touching 19,08,255. Nevertheless, the recoveries till now total up to 12,82,215, more than twice the active cases.
The recovery rate has reached a new high of 67.19 per cent and continues to improve each day. According to the Union Health Ministry, 1282215 people have so far defeated the virus across the country.
With such consistent increase in recoveries, the gap between recovered patients and active Covid-19 cases has reached nearly 7 lakh. Due to the record highest daily recoveries, the active cases have reduced to 5,86,244 (less than 5,86,298 recorded Tuesday) and all are under medical supervision.
However, the active cases of the contagion at present stand at 586244, as per government data.
Fatalities in India due to the COVID contagion have also increased after 857 people died due to the virus in the past one day, taking the death toll till date to 39795.
The death, however, has further reduced and presently stands at 2.09 per cent in the country.
Overall contagion tally across the nation has now crossed the 19 lakh mark, with the figure standing at 1908255.
On the brighter side , the recovered cases have exceeded the active cases by 695972.
A total of 2,14,84,402 samples have been tested for COVID as per the Indian Council of Medical Research till Tuesday.
The aggressive testing along with ramped up hospital infrastructure by collective efforts of the public and private sectors has ensured the increasing Recovery Rate which has improved from 63 per cent to 67 per cent in the past 14 days.
Coordinated implementation of "Test, Track, Treat" strategy by the Union and state/UT governments has ensured that the Case Fatality R has been low and stands at 2.09 percent when compared to the global scenario and it has been progressively falling.
In northern state of Punjab, eleven have tested +ve in Kapurthala, pushing the district caseload to 338, senior district official said on Wednesday.
While furnishing details here, Kapurthala DC Deepti Uppal said till now 191 patients have been cured and discharged, while the district currently houses 147 active cases.
In parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh 85 new cases were detected taking the tally to 3,410.
With 85 fresh patients being identified, the total number of novel coronavirus cases increased to 3,410 in Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh district on Wednesday. Official sources said out of the total cases, 1,835 have recovered completely while 1,506 are currently undergoing treatment. 69 people have so far succumbed to the virus in the district.
Eight more tested negative for the lethal novel coronavirus, here pushing the Kangra district number of recovered cases to 357 of the total 495 positive cases.There were eight recoveries when they tested negative for the COVID 19 in the district on Wednesday.
In Maharashtra, Aurangabad district's coronavirus tally spiked to 15,208 after 58 fresh cases of infections were reported here on Wednesday morning.Of the fresh cases, 33 are from rural areas and 25 from urban, district administration sources said. Meanwhile, 11,368 patients have recovered here and 493 lost their lives to the disease.
The district has 3,347 active cases in the present.As many as 256 infections and six deaths were reported here on Tuesday.
At least 753 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported across the eight districts of Marathwada region in last 24 hours.While 19 fatalities were also reported in the eight districts till late Tuesday late night.With this, the total number of fatalities reached 916 in these districts, while COVID-19 tally in the region mounted to 26,889.On a positive front 17,426 patients were cured and discharged.There were 17 cases and three deaths in Parbhani, 68 cases and two deaths in Jalna , 45 cases and one death in Osmanabad, 75 cases in Beed and 2 cases in Hingoli district.
Pertinently, five staff members of Andaman Aadim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS) tested Corona Positive in rapid raising serious concerns about the safety of Jarawa Tribes from Covid infection but the authorities say need not worry.
Also, Tripura government has set up a special ward for the treatment of Covid-infected pregnant and lactating mothers at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) hospital, after a video showing the sufferings of a pregnant woman in a Covid Care Centre here went viral three days ago, triggering severe criticism.
Meanwhile, with the two fresh deaths in the past 24 hours, Covid death toll climbed to 30 in Tripura while the total number of positive cases rose to 5625 with 1870 cases.The health officials, however, claimed that Covid situation has been improving gradually in the state.
