Cow slaughter row: BJP leader calls K'taka min 'mental'

Bidar, June 5 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Prabhu Chavan on Monday called the incumbent Karnataka Animal Husbandry Minister K Venkatesh a "mental case" for giving a statement in favour of cow slaughter.
Speaking to reporters herer, Chavan - a former Animal Husbandry Minister - said the anti-cow slaughter law was enacted by the Congress government in 1964, and the BJP governments strengthened it further.
He also accused the Congress government of appeasing a particular community and asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to eitehr change Venkatesh's portfolio or seek his resignation as minister.
