Cyberabad Police book 407 drunk drivers in weekend special drive

Hyderabad, Dec 14 (UNI) The Cyberabad Traffic Police conducted a special weekend drive against drunken driving, during which 407 offenders were apprehended across the Cyberabad commissionerate limits.
Of the total cases, 290 involved two-wheelers, 18 three-wheelers, 90 four-wheelers and nine heavy vehicles. Based on blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels, 354 offenders were found with BAC between 35 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml, 31 with levels between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, and 22 with BAC ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.
All the offenders will be produced before the courts. Police warned that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence and, in case of fatal accidents caused by drunk driving, the accused will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which carries a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment along with a fine.
