Day-long mental health film festival in Panaji tomorrow

Panaji, Sep 24 (UNI) A Goa-based non-governmental organisation will organise a day-long mental health film festival in the city tomorrow to mark its 20 years of public service.
According to a statement here today, the film festival, a curtain raiser for the upcoming World Mental Health Month, is being organised in collaboration with Trimiti Trust, Pune, and Psychiatric Society of Goa.
A short inaugural function will be followed by screening of Marathi film 'Astu'. The film featuring Dr Mohan Agashe, Milind Soman, Iravathi Harshe and Amruta Subhash explores the lives of a person with dementia and his caregivers.
The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr Mohan Agashe, Dr Amit Dias and Dr Abhijit Nadkarni.
In the post-lunch session, short films around the subject of mental health will be screened.
Sangath, a Goan NGO, has been working in the field of child development, adolescent health and mental health since 1996.
Its focus has been concentrated on the process of task-sharing, that is empowering the community with skills to provide interventions, with support. This philosophy allows a greater number of people to access interventions which have strong scientific evidence.
