Day temperatures above normal at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya

Pune, May 22 (UNI) Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some parts of south Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maldives, Comorin area and south Bay of Bengal and some more parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Andaman Sea today on 22nd May, 2024. Conditions are favorable for advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andaman Sea and some parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal during next 2 days.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Saurashtra and Kutch; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Konkan and Goa, Jammu-Kashmir, and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at a few places over Punjab; at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Haryana, Gujarat Region; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Uttar Pradesh, Konkan and Goa; at a few places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep and at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. These were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at isolated places east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana; appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over Vidarbha, Marathwada; a few places over north interior Karnataka; at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, west Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 47.8°C was reported at Sirsa AWS (Haryana) over the country.
