Deep depression to intensify into cyclonic storm by today evening: Met

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), May 25 (UNI) The deep depression over the East-central Bay of Bengal moved nearly northwards with a speed of 17 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centered on Saturday over the same region near latitude 18.0°N and longitude 89.7°E, about 440 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh), 440 km south-southeast of Sagar Islands (West Bengal) and 480 km south-southeast of Canning (West Bengal), Meterological Centre said.
In a daily weather report here, it said that the deep depression is likely to continue to move nearly northwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over eastcentral & adjoining north Bay of Bengal around today evening. Continuing to move further northwards, it would intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by tomorrow morning and cross Bangladesh & adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara by May 26 midnight as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 110-120 gusting to 135 kmph.
Southwest Monsoon further advanced into some more parts of the Southwest Bay of Bengal, the remaining parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, some more parts of the Central Bay of Bengal and some parts of the Northeast Bay of Bengal today.
