Delhi Air Quality falls to ‘very poor’ as PM2.5 levels soar

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) A cold wave gripped the National Capital on Saturday, bringing a light drizzle, but it did little to improve the city’s hazardous air quality. According to Sameer App, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 363 at 9 am, indicating a “very poor” situation, with PM2.5 levels particularly high.
On January 9, the AQI at 4 pm was 345, dominated by PM10 particles. Among city monitoring stations, Anand Vihar recorded the highest AQI at 425, followed closely by Chandni Chowk at 418.
PM2.5 and PM10 are categories of airborne particulate matter, differentiated by size. PM10 particles are larger, measuring less than 10 micrometers in diameter, while PM2.5 particles are finer, with diameters under 2.5 micrometers.
