Delhi farmers to get digital identity, geo-tagged land records

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major decision to digitise the entire agricultural framework related to farming and farmers in the national capital. Under the Centre’s Special Assistance to the States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, a digital identity of farmers and a geo-mapped record of agricultural land will be created in Delhi, making the state eligible for incentive-based financial assistance from the Central Government.
The Chief Minister said the assistance will not be released as a one-time grant but will be linked to the achievement of defined targets. She stated that the initiative will ensure accurate land records and remove discrepancies in schemes related to crop insurance, compensation, minimum support price and subsidies. The system will also provide farmers with proper identification, rights and greater transparency.
Explaining the scheme, Rekha Gupta said the objective of SASCI is to encourage states to integrate agriculture with digital systems. Under the programme, Delhi will implement a State Farmer Registry and a Digital Crop Survey. Financial assistance from the Centre will be released in phases as these milestones are completed.
