Aizawl, Oct 13 (UNI) Mizoram has recorded 449 dengue cases between January and September this year, with one fatality reported from Aizawl district, according to the state health and family welfare department.
Health officials revealed that out of 6,710 samples tested for suspected dengue infections, 449 were confirmed positive. Aizawl district has been the worst affected, accounting for 277 cases, followed by Lunglei district with 149 cases. The remaining infections were sporadically reported across other districts, including one case involving a visitor to the state.
Since the detection of the first case in 2019, the state's dengue death toll has risen to eight, with five fatalities in 2022, two last year, and one death so far in 2024—all from Aizawl district.
