DGP directs district police chiefs to educate students against drugs

Moga, Feb 13 (UNI) The Director General of Police, Punjab today directed the district police chiefs to launch a vigorous drive against availability of drugs and narcotics with educational campaign, especially in schools and colleges, making them aware of various ill dimensions of drug addiction and consumption by setting up anti-drug societies in educational institutes.
The DGP told UNI here last evening that he had also directed all In-charges of Saanjh kenders to organise seminar and debates on the issue of drugs.The DGP also directed them for effective usage of police helpline 181 for gathering information, related to people involved in smuggling/ peddling of drugs, besides highlighting Rs 10,000 reward for successful information.
As part of this policy, 17 people have been rewarded with Rs 10, 000 each for providing such information. The DGP also directed police officials to involve prominent persons of their respective areas for identifying persons and voluntary organsation to come forward, wiping out the curse of drugs from the state.
