Displaced persons urge Government to review Assistance Rates in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 8 (UNI) Several organisations representing victims of ethnic violence who are living in relief camps have jointly appealed to the Government of Manipur to review and revise the assistance rates being provided to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) currently staying in relief camps across the state.
In a joint press release issued on Saturday, the Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims (COPMeV), Moreh, Churachandpur Meitei United Committee (CMUC), Meetei Council Moreh (MCM), Meitei union Kangpokpi, Apex Committee of Victims Village (Ekou, Sadu Vengkhuman, Dolaithabi, Leitanpokpi and Mairenpat), and the Torbung Gram Panchayat Victim Committee (TGPVC), expressed concern over the inadequacy of the current relief assistance.
The statement recalled that following the outbreak of ethnic violence on May 3, 2023, the Government of Manipur had arranged relief camps for displaced victims with support from the State and Central Governments.
