Srinagar, Mar 21 (UNI) A major earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening forcing people to run out of their homes for safety.
There is no immediate report of any casualty or major damage to property.
The tremors were felt at around 10:17 pm in Kashmir and its epicenter was at a depth of 156 kilometres in the Afghanistan Hindu Kush region, officials said.
As per GFZ (German Research Centre for Geosciences) the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.6 on the Richter scale.
Reports said that people in several localities were seen running out of their homes due to the earthquake. There were reports of mobile telephony getting disrupted in many parts of Kashmir after the quake
