ED begins fresh searches in alleged sand smuggling scam in Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 16 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the alleged large- scale sand smuggling and its money trails across West Bengal, today began fresh search operations at multiple locations, including Kolkata and Medinipur, official sources said.
They said ED officials raided the properties, offices and godowns of business people and their workers in at least seven locations in alleged sand smuggling and its money trails in Kolkata’s Bentinck Street near Lal Bazar, Lalgarh and Gopiballavpur in Jhargram district.
The raids were also reported at the residence of a businessman in Asansol in West Bardhaman district.

Passenger dies under mysterious circumstances minutes before train reaches Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Nov 17 (UNI) A 35-year-old man, identified as Diwakar Kumar, died under suspicious circumstances while travelling on the Ganga Satluj Express from Banaras to Dhanbad on Monday. According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), a message was received that a passenger was lying unconscious inside the train. Acting swiftly, the GRP team reached the platform and immediately assisted in deboarding the passenger when the train arrived at Dhanbad station.
