Dehradun, June 15 (UNI) Eight people were killed after a tempo traveller fell into a deep gorge on the Badrinath Highway, five kilometers from Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand on Saturday.
A total of 23 people were travelling in the vehicle. The vehicle was enroute to Chopta from Noida when the accident occurred.
On receiving the information, the police administration, district disaster management, NDRF, and other teams have started rescue operations at the spot.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident. He said very painful news was received about the accident of a tempo traveller in Rudraprayag. Teams of the local administration and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
The injured have been sent to the nearest medical center for treatment. The District Magistrate has been ordered to investigate the incident.
Dhami said,' I pray to God to give place to the souls of the deceased at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense pain. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured.'
