Ex J&K CMs see ray on hope in Rahul Gandhi

Ex J&K CMs see ray on hope in Rahul Gandhi

Srinagar, Jan 30 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said she was hopeful that whatever has been taken from Jammu and Kashmir will be returned by a Gandhi.

She was addressing a rally at the culmination of the Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar which was attended by several leaders of Congress, National Conference and opposition parties amid a heavy spell of snowfall.

“..Rahul ji said he has come to Kashmir to his home. Rahul ji, this is your home. I hope that whatever has been taken from Jammu and Kashmir and this country, by the ( Nathuram) Godse’s ideology, will be returned by a Gandhi, and not just to J&K, but to the whole country,” she said.
She said Mahatma Gandhi had seen a ray of hope in J&K and today, the whole country sees that ray of hope in Rahul Gandhi.

Another former chief minister and National Conference Vice president Omar Abdullah said the country was in a dire need of this yatra.
“There has been an attempt to give an impression to the world that there is only one thinking in this country that is of Sangh Parivar, which is communal. But, this yatra has proved that while there are those who like the BJP, but, there are those also who want new politics without the BJP, who want brotherhood and want to live in peace and with love and affection which BJP can’t give,” Omar said.

Omar said the Yatra has given a new hope in Jammu and Kashmir

“…Today, Ghandiji was martyred. In 1947 said he saw a ray of hope in J&K. This yatra, perhaps, has once again rekindled that ray of hope in the whole country,” Omar said.
Omar asked Rahul to think of startring a similar Yatra from East to West.
“Rahul, your yatra joined south India with the north India. I know you need some rest as you have been walking continuously since September, but, I request you that perhaps, time has come to join East India with the West through a Bharat Jodo Yatra,” he said.

Rahul has remained noncommittal on Article 370 restoration during his entire Bharat Jodo Yatra. During his media interactions in Jammu and Kashmir, he only reiterated that the resolution of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) was very clear on Article 370.
